Merry Christmas

Two things that frustrate me

sad(These are directed at no one in particular, so stop guessing!)

1. When people use “worshipful” as synonymous with a ballad song.  As in, “We do lots of upbeat music, but we also do slower more worshipful songs.”  Some of the most amazing worship I’ve experienced has also involved having my face rocked off.

2.  When people use the word “prayer” as synonymous with “ask.”  Tell-tale sign of this: the word “pray” is always followed by the word “for.”  If every time I talked to my wife I was asking for something, she would kick my butt.

**Bonus Frustration:  When people say “fusstrate” or “flustrate” instead of frustrate.

Today I had some time on my hands.

I fingerpainted my music notebook with markers.

Do you ever decorate your things?

Relevant.TV is back

That’s pretty much it – relevant.tv is back online.  I’ve missed it like a good friend who tells you about all the cool new music and videos.

Music Guys, Awesome Buys, and Homeless Guys

Hey everybody. Man, what a couple of weeks. I know I’ve said it before, but we are serious about rethinking ministry at Life. It’s tough to get a breather. When I have had time, here’s some cool things I’ve checked out this past week:

  • The internet is awesome. At THE HOMELESS GUY you can actually read a blog written by . . . a homeless guy. He uses the free computers at a local McDonalds. I dont’ agree with all of his opinions and beliefs necessarily, but it is a fascinating insight on our current culture–a blog from a homeless guy.
  • Check out some great music by Lee McDerment, a worship leader at NewSpring Church.
  • Have a look at the promo for our new series on relationships, “What’s Love Got to Do With It?” After you’re done, go viral and forward it to a friend.
  • I’ve got to get one of these.
  • The new trailer for the movie WALL○E.  I don’t know about you, but I totally dig PIXAR movies.  This one looks to be a new classic to me.

Any of you run across anything especially interesting this week?

Christmas Music

Ok, I’ll admit it. I’m not the biggest fan of Christmas music. I dunno, for the most part, it just doesn’t work for me. I guess I don’t mind the classics tunes like “Jingle Bells,” “Deck the Halls,”etc. But any new Christmas music always comes across as a little to sappy for the most part . . . for me. And re-do’s of old classics just don’t add much to what made them classic in the first place.

Hopefully that doesn’t make me a scrooge or grinch or anything.Charlie Brown

I will tell you my favorite Christmas song. It’s nice and simple. “Christmas-time is Here” by Vince Guaraldi. You know, it’s that song in the Charlie Brown Christmas Special. There are words, but you almost always hear it as just music, especially on piano. You can’t go wrong.

Right now at work it’s all Christmas music all the time. Thank goodness for internet radio.

If you too are surrounded by Christmas music and need to escape, you can try Relevant.tv or YRock for a momentary diversion. Merry Christmas . . .
