Govermnentium & You

I heard this yesterday listening to Dave Ramsey.  Hilarious.  My favorite part is:

This characteristic of morons promotion leads some scientists to believe that Governmentium is formed whenever morons reach a critical concentration. This hypothetical quantity is referred to as critical morass

Classic.

Thou Shalt Not Be Ridiculous

The Ten Commandments of Talking (or blogging) Politics

One of the more excellent things I’ve read this election year.  The first commandment is:

1. Do not worship political theories or parties.(You shall have no other gods before me.)  Do not worship ideas or theories instead of God. Not your stance on global warming or Capitalism or deregulation or education or abortion or gay marriage or health care or international trade or war. Do not put your hopes in a political stance or party line or economic theory. Those things are important, but they should not distract us from our unity in Christ Jesus.

As Christians, we have definitely got to get a grip on how we deal with political issues.

Around the Web: Stuff Christian’s Like

From a recent post:

Bill: “Did I tell you about my friend Mike? The Christian plumber?”

Fred: “No, what happened?”

Bill: “He used to have these contracts with churches. He did all their plumbing. But now, he’s expanding the business and working with secular companies and doing plumbing at the homes of non-Christians. He’s such a sell out.”

One of my favorite blogs, you should check it out.

Music Guys, Awesome Buys, and Homeless Guys

Hey everybody. Man, what a couple of weeks. I know I’ve said it before, but we are serious about rethinking ministry at Life. It’s tough to get a breather. When I have had time, here’s some cool things I’ve checked out this past week:

  • The internet is awesome. At THE HOMELESS GUY you can actually read a blog written by . . . a homeless guy. He uses the free computers at a local McDonalds. I dont’ agree with all of his opinions and beliefs necessarily, but it is a fascinating insight on our current culture–a blog from a homeless guy.
  • Check out some great music by Lee McDerment, a worship leader at NewSpring Church.
  • Have a look at the promo for our new series on relationships, “What’s Love Got to Do With It?” After you’re done, go viral and forward it to a friend.
  • I’ve got to get one of these.
  • The new trailer for the movie WALL○E.  I don’t know about you, but I totally dig PIXAR movies.  This one looks to be a new classic to me.

Any of you run across anything especially interesting this week?
